TOF
Tailored Optical Fiber

Since the project launched in January 2017, the Friedrich Schiller University Jena is one of the partners within the regional growth core for innovative optical fibers, Tailored Optical Fibers (TOF). The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports the project with a subsidy amount of 10 million Euros. The aim of the growth core TOF is to foster the fiber technology in Jena region by developing a joint technology platform for tailored fibers in new photonic applications, e.g. fiber optic metrology in industry and medicine, novel light sources for laser and material processing as well as light emitting textiles.
